Fuel Polishing

Advanced Fuel Processing

KC Petroleum’s fuel polishing process is an advanced level of filtration, which a service technician and a helper handles. Fuel Polishing will help prevent the corrosion of your tanks and fueling equipment. Our process involves your fuel being pulled through different size filters in different stages of our equipment. Through our process, any grade of fuel we are polishing will be dispensed so you can keep your clients happy and your registers open. We have found that it takes a preventative maintenance program to ensure that your fuel will stay the best quality for your clients.

Fuel Processing Process

Fuel Polishing removes microbial contamination from Diesel fuel that is being held in (AST’s) aboveground or (UST’s) underground storage tanks. It removes water, sediment, and microbial contamination from all fuel types. Diesel contamination happens because the stored fuel is not treated or tested regularly. We will analyze the fuel by taking fuel samples and testing them to know how to treat the fuel and kill the growing bacteria.

The 1st phase is to continuously remove the fuel from the storage tank into the first chamber of our fuel polishing filtration system.

The 2nd phase is to drop the fuel back into the tank. We will continue this process until the solids are removed and the fuel returns to its natural color.

The time required to complete the fuel polishing process depends on several factors. One of the most important factors is the specific fuel polishing machine used. Our Fuel Polishing machine can polish fuel at over 100 GPM gallons per minute. The quality of the fuel is another factor. If the fuel quality is highly contaminated, it will take longer to perform the polishing process than if the fuel is cleaner. Another factor depends on the volume of the fuel in the tank. When you receive your proposal, we will consider all of these factors.

Diesel Storage Tank Fuel Quality

Shear Valve Failure Issues – Algae Buildup

Fuel samples from Nozzle and Tank – Algae Buildup

Clogged dispenser filter will slow, if not stop, the fuel delivery

Tank probe covered in algae causing incorrect inventory readings, possible fuel shut down when float gets unstuck.

Problems with Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel and Steel Components

Fuel Polishing Done Right

The right hose is the product coming out of tank and the left hose is the fuel after being polished and put back into the tank.
